Styling Tips | Atsuna Matsui

Atsuna Matsui has always been into fashion and loves to share her trendy tips to fashion success.  Of course, at LUX we had to get her to dish out some of her best fashion advice. So check out Atsuna’s tips to finding your fashion inspirations and incorporating it into your style!

What about discovering new styles to incorporate into your look and style?

I think social media is the greatest place for discovery and in addition there are innumerable online websites, platforms, e-magazines, and publications that you can find something that is perfectly suited to your likes.  It is such a great time to find your tribe out there in the world whatever your look is.

Who do you consider the icons in the fashion & design industry?

Youji Yamamoto, Rick Owens, Ellen von Unwerth, Ryan Mcginley.  I know the latter two are photographers, but they have had an impact on me.

What style/fashion accessory is your favorite?

Necklaces and cross-body bags are currently the thing for me, but backpacks are also becoming a fav.  Historically, hats used to be my fav, fedoras and the like, but now I opt more for low crown baseball hats(dad hats).

If you can/could consider yourself an expert in one area of style/fashion, what would it be?

Headwear and bags.

Can you give me a tutorial on how people can best incorporate that style/fashion advice in their life?

Headwear is very dependent upon one’s face shape. The color of hair, skin and eyes, take a less important role.  Like most things in fashion, headwear is about balancing the shape of your face with space the hat takes up.  Whatever shape your face is lacking, look for a hat shape that takes up the needed space to have a more figuratively ‘balanced’ shape to your head.  Those who already have fairly balanced width and height and definition to their face generally can wear any hat.  Think of your face and the hats in matter of height, width, and definition.
