Take the Risk | Jean Cozier
“For everyone that has a dream, that is talented, and is in constant pursuit of their dream, never give up! There are risks and sacrifices you will have to make, do not be scared to make them!” -Jean Cozier
Passion is a powerful thing and the need to follow your heart is simply human nature. Not only that, but following the guidance of your soul often leads you to a happier life overall. But what hinders a lot of us from doing that is the fear that things may not work out. It’s the fear of leaving security and taking a risk on something that is not guaranteed.
Jean Cozier is no different from the rest of us. He was faced with the tough decision on whether to stay in a place where he was financially secure and stable, yet unhappy or pursue his dream of working in the fashion industry, but having to give up the security and stability of his job. Ultimately, his burning passion took over and he decided to leave his job and go for his dreams. “Being at a job that I didn’t really care for and knowing that I really wanted to do something in fashion is what drove me to this journey. I wanted to do something different I didn’t want to follow the same path as everyone else and get stuck in a corporate job, I felt that there was so much more out there, so much more for me to do,” Jean says.
Jean dived into the world of fashion with creativity, style and the ability to capture everyone’s attention. “My goal is to really inspire and motivate others to take risks and follow their dreams. I do that by showing myself following my dreams and displaying the art and creativity of a gentleman,” Jean says. As a gentlemen’s influencer, another one of Jean’s goals is to inspire men to dress well and take care of themselves. He uses his blog to dish out tips and display his personal style. “My content is made to be interesting and capturing so it raises questions of what is he up to? How can I be part of that journey! Etc etc,” Jean explains.
“I been interested in fashion and style starting at a very young age. Probably around 7 or 8, pretty much from watching my father dress and seeing the clothing styles on T.V, is what got me interested.” – Jean Cozier
In Jean’s case, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. His biggest inspiration to go out and pursue a fashion based career was his father. His father wasn’t afraid to take a risk and go after the things he loved as well. Having him as an example gave Jean the courage to go make his own dreams come true. “From my upbringing I can link risk taking to my inspiration. My father was a man that took risks to follow his dreams, he was so determined and did everything he could to follow his dreams and make sure his passion was his career,” Jean exclaims!
Jean has an undeniable stylish flare. His unique and bold style sets him apart from many other men, but he has a great class about him that men are inspired by. “I like a lot of loud pieces and designs, but I don’t add too much accessories because I like to keep it simple. I might add something that makes the outfit pop and standout even more, but most of the time the suit or outfit I’m wearing is already loud enough,” Jean explains.
Think about the 80/20 rule; if you get 80% of your impact from 20% of what you do, what is that 20% for you as it pertains to developing and expressing your personal style?
I guess the 20% would be just making sure I got something on that makes a statement.
Who do you consider the icons in the fashion & design industry?
People who inspire me when it comes to fashion would be Jidenna, Pharrell, Ryan Gosling, Idris Elba
What’s the next frontier in building your tribe?
To go where no man has gone before lol, honestly to grow in the community and actually educate children about being a gentleman.
