Using her Platform | Lauren Morgan
Imagination and creativity is the basis of starting a career in the fashion industry. You add content creation and great advice to the mix, you have the makings of a fashion influencer. Lauren Morgan uses her platform to inspire others with her styling choices. And she enjoys every second of doing so!
Lauren has been interested in fashion for as long as she can remember. When I asked her to recall her first memory of fashion, it wasn’t too hard for her to come up with an example. “I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember. I used to take all of the costume jewelry my mom had out and wear it around the house,” Lauren says. But who knew that her love of fashion would continue to evolve and lead her to where she is today.
When I asked her when did she start fashion blogging, it was no surprise that she could also recall the exact moment that her blog came to life. “I started blogging one summer when my now husband had a work assignment in Brazil. I work full time for a school district so I have the summers off and needed something to do while in a foreign country. It evolved from there,” Lauren exclaims.
Lauren’s style is definitely not too over the top. I would describe it as effortless chic. She’s not afraid to take classics and give the a little twist of her own. You can see that she just has her own edge which makes her style unique, yet it is not so far fetch. This helps her to be relatable to her audience. While she really likes classic looks, she still keeps up with the latest trends. “I like to incorporate some trends into my look, without going overboard,” Lauren says.
Lauren lives in Dallas and we all know that the culture around you really influences your style. So I was intrigued to know a little bit about the fashion climate in Dallas and how it has impacted the fashion choices that Lauren makes. “Dallas has a ‘dress for your day’ sort of mentality. At one restaurant on a Saturday you’ll see everything from dresses and wedges to athleisure to jeans and tshirts. I love that you can dress for how you feel and what you’re doing,” Lauren explains.
Who do you consider the icons in the fashion & design industry?
I’m inspired by so many. I love looking back on old photos of Bridget Bardot for inspiration. I also can always find inspiration from Olivia Palermo, Arielle Charnas, and Danielle Bernstein.
